how to tuesday: on trend berry red lips

I've decided to start a new weekly feature on my blog; how to Tuesday. Basically every Tuesday I'll post a make up or hair tutorial for my lovely readers, this week I decided to go with my favorite make up item - lipstick!

Bold lips for this winter are a must have and I think a deep, berry red is a lovely shade to choose. It's been seen on the catwalks courtesy of Nina Ricci and Rihanna was sporting them in that photo for her Unapologetic album cover. This tutorial will show you a few easy steps to achieve long lasting, luscious deep red lips.

1. Start by using concealer on your lips, this will make the colour pop allow defined lines to be created. Go over with a lip balm or conditioner of your choice to ensure a smooth application.

2. Use a lipliner to line your lips and fill in gradually with the pencil, this will create a longer lasting finish. I used MUA's lip liner in Red Drama.

3. Fill in your lips with your chosen lipstick (I chose MUA's lip boom in It's A Situation) and you're done!

Quite a quiet week this week. I've been doing some freelance work and regular work which has pretty much taken up all of my time. We've had a promotions week at work and have been so, so busy, it feels like Christmas is definitely getting closer a little too fast! I'm really excited because I received my pass to the Pro Beauty show 2013 this week, there's a Warpaint make up competition and MUA Gary Cockerill is the creative director, it looks so good, I cant wait to see the entries! I think I should probably start saving now for this event...

Today was fun, Mitch, Daisy and I went to an organic farm shop/restaurant with our friends Laura and Sam, we saw actual llamas and alpacas which pretty much made my day. Daisy saw a reindeer and laughed A LOT, it wasn't even doing anything but she was loving the thing. Now I'm just chilled on the sofa watching Home Alone with Mitch, a perfect Sunday. chanel rouge allure: séduisant

CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE IN SÉDUISANTE #91 - £25 @ DEBENHAMS

This lipstick is one of twelve shades from Chanel's Summer 2012 collection; Rouge Allure. It's a pretty, soft pink which is more of a spring/summer shade but I tend to wear this kind of colour day to day and after 283772 swatches (slight exaggeration) on the back of my hand of various Chanel lipsticks, I decided this was the one to buy.

The packaging is elegant, sleek and classic Chanel, a black casing with the golden C logo on the top, you press down on the golden C's to release the lipstick which I think is a pretty nifty idea! The lipstick itself is long lasting and feels smooth and moisturising when applied. At £25 it is a little expensive and when I was purchasing it my boyfriend looked at me like I needed to be sectioned, but it's worth the money and I'm definitely going to try some more shades. Next on my list in the legendary Rouge Noir, a blackened red that I'm dying to try. 

I also received free No. 5 body lotion and perfume minis with this lipstick which I gave to my mum as No. 5 is classic, but is also a little too mature a scent for my liking. The Chanel counter at work is full of beautiful Christmas decorations, like the snow globe pictured above, and Brad Pitt's face is everywhere at the moment, between this and the makeup I'm finding it hard to stay away! This week has been a nice week, work has been going really well, Mitch and I celebrated our anniversary and I spent the weekend grilling bacon on an outside fire watching fireworks - don't knock it till you've tried it!

I'm a woman obsessed. I've been completely and utterly taken over by the Breaking Bad bug, seriously if I'm not working, sleeping or with Daisy-Rose I'm watching it. Mitch had started watching it last year and was begging me to sit and watch it with him ever since, as soon as I watched the first episode that was it. I stayed awake till 5AM watching episode after episode, it wasn't until Mitch's alarm went off that I realised the time! But anyway, it's incredible, oh and I cannot stand Walt's wife, I get so agitated that I have look away from the screen whenever she's on.

In other news! I went a little O.T.T this week with a Lush haul and Chanel treats, everyone knows of Snow Fairy but I may post about American Dream - an amazing strawberry milkshake conditioner. I'll be posting a review of a Chanel lipstick I bought also! 

Now that fireworks night and Halloween are over it really is starting to dawn on me that Christmas will be here in no time, work is absolutely packed and I've already made my list and started buying, but of couse it isn't officially Christmas until the Coca Cola advert comes on.

how to: concealing dark circles

BEFORE & AFTER

If, like myself, you find you never quite manage to get the recommended eight hours of sleep, or are a very busy bee during the day, you may find the strain is starting to show.. under your eyes. If I had £1 for every time a customer asks me 'what can I do to get rid of these dark circles?' I'd be one rich lady. It seems to be a problem that most of us have, especially as we grow older, so here's your step by step guide on how to conceal any tricky under eye problems...

1. Start by applying eye cream, I used Benefit's 'It's Potent!' because it's ideal for reducing puffiness, plumping the under eye area and fading dark circles.

2. Use a concealer of your choice (I chose my HG concealer; Collection Lasting Perfection) and make a V shape under the eye, blend using a concealer brush and remember to be extra gentle as the under eye area is particularly delicate.

3. Take a brightening pencil, such as Benefit's 'Eye Bright' (I'm using the cream version of Eye Bright in my Peek a Bright Eyes set) and apply this to the inner and outter corner of your eye. Blend this in by dabbing very gently with your finger. I like to blend this in a circle like shape so it covers my under eye area and eyelid also. Finish by adding a little vanilla eyeshadow to the inner corner of your eye and voilà!

CLINIQUE FACIAL SOAP BAR - £11 @ CLINIQUE

Designed to be the first step to great skin, this Clinique facial soap bar is formulated to suit your skin type and leave your skin feeling refreshed and clean but never tight, or dry. I have combination skin and therefore bought the mild (or skin type 1, 2) version of the soap. Ideally you would use it everyday to maximise the effect of the product, I've been using this everyday morning and evening and think it's  a great product. It isn't fragranced, which I love because most soap bars smell a little like nan's perfume, it lathers up really well on the skin and unlike most bars it doesn't leave your face feeling dry or rigid at all - I found that bars of soap usually made my skin extra dry but not with this one! My skin feels super soft it and it cleans away any dirt or build up really well. It's a little pricey for a soap, £11 to be precise, but I think it's well worth the money. It also comes with a handy Clinique soap dish to make your bathroom look a little more pretty!

baby you're a firework

Happy bonfire night everyone! I'm up to my eyes in clothes, shoes and beauty products at the moment.. unfortunately I haven't been shopping, I'm sorting out the bedroom getting ready to redecorate, therefore no fireworks celebrations for me - hopefully we'll get some sparklers or something this weekend when we have a little spare time! I did however put half an hour aside to create a bonfire night inspired look, glittery, deep purple eyes with fireworks detail. 

Also, if you fancy creating some fireworks inspired nails here are a few of my favourite glitter polishes to get the bonfire night look...
